Advanced chemo-mechanical model to predict asphalt material behaviour
Within an ongoing effort, a constitutive model for asphalt material including viscoelasticity, viscoplasticity damage and self-healing is developed using the large strain framework. The model is used within various research projects that need Finite Element simulations in order to give accurate predictions of the structural behavior of pavements. Each project that utilizes the framework is also adding features, models and improvements to the model. Ultimately, the model should be integrated within the engineering practice to assist in making calculated decisions for the design, building and maintenance of asphaltic pavements.
