Geotechnology covers technical properties of soils and rocks and construction methods to build in- and on soil and rock materials, i.e. the technology to utilize soil and rock materials in constructions and works. The subject soil and rock mechanics is the theoretical and applied of science of the mechanical behavior of soils and rocks and their application.
The current interests at the Division of Soil- and Rock Mechanics are: Grouting of jointed rock; Risk and reliability analysis for design and construction in soil and rock; Ground improvement methods and Vibration from traffic and construction activities.
