Bridge edge beams: LCCA and structural analysis for the evaluation of new concepts

The goal of this research project is to develop bridge edge beam solutions that can lead to lower life-cycle cost and still fulfill the functional requirements. To evaluate solutions with and without an edge beam, the load distribution in overhang slabs is studied using non-linear FEM analyses. Existing calculation methods for overhang slabs are assessed in the light of the results obtained.
