Innovative structural details using high strength steel

The use of high strength steel (HSS) for bridges has the potential of leading to savings in cost and material. However, when fatigue of the steel material becomes the decisive design factor, the advantage of HSS becomes questionable. The aim of this project is to study HSS for bridges with a focus on new structural details for an improved fatigue life.
