Chapter 6: Determining characteristic values of geotechnical parameters and resistance: an overview. In: State-of-the-art review of inherent variability and uncertainty in geotechnical properties and models, edited by J. Ching & T. Schweckendiek. Report by TC304 in ISSMGE.

Johan Spross contributed to a chapter on characteristic values in geotechnical design in this state-of-the-art report published by Technical Committee 304 “Engineering Practice of Risk Assessment & Management” within the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. Johan’s contribution concerned a description of the Swedish practice in determining characteristic values.
