The project is the pilot operation of autonomous buses in Kista, Stockholm. The pilot is planned by Nobina and involves two vehicles of the type Easy Mile EZ10. The goal of the project is to understand the effects and potential of AVs for shared services. This will be achieved by investigating different aspects of user’s behavior and service design in relation to the AV. The results from the projects will be used to provide recommendations for best practice and documentation of further research needs.

Self-driving bus in Kista.

The research is framed around:

  1. Simulation-based evaluation of automated fixed line bus service
  2. Recommendation for operation mode of autonomous fleet

.

The focus lies in:

  1. Simulation of impact on user cost and operation cost when operating autonomous vehicles
  2. Estimated benefits in terms of e.g. reduced travel times and waiting times
