Flexåter 2

Graphical timetable with block occupation for a section of the Southern main line.
Graphical timetable with block occupation for a section of the Southern main line.

Researchers: Johan Högdahl (doctoral student), Markus Bohlin (Supervisor), and Oskar Fröidh  (Project manager and assistant supervisor)

Funding: Trafikverket (Swedish Transport Administration)

Implementation: 2021-2022

The project aims to develop the methodology of combining RailSys-based simulation with optimization to create robust timetables. The project is a direct continuation of the research project Flexåter – in which a method based on microsimulation and optimization to improve the robustness of a given timetable was developed. The focus of this project is continued model and method development and to develop the generalizability and applicability of the methodology. In a first step, the socio-economic effect of applying the method will be evaluated and in a second step, the conditions for an implementation will be examined.
